Youth Initiative

Hemel Initiative for Youth Action (HIYA) is an exciting venture of the four Hemel Catholic parishes working together.

Venus Garcia-George, our youth worker, joined us in January 2007. She is supported by a management team – one representative from each parish - and a youth specialist from SPEC (Youth Ministry Centre in London Colney).

We are gradually building up a HIYA team of adults to help Venus run activities for the young people in our community. We would welcome more volunteers – without these volunteers our programme cannot expand as much as we would wish.

Who is it for?

Currently we have two separate groups of young people:

HIYA 14+ (year 9 and up)
Regular meeting: Sunday 7pm – 9.30pm
Boxmoor Parish Centre

HIYA 11+ (years 7 & 8)
Regular meeting: Thursday 7pm – 8.30pm
Our Lady Queen of All Creation, Adeyfield
