Easter Font
Each Easter for the last four years we have been privileged to baptise one or more adults seeking entry into the Christian Faith through the Catholic Church.
On such occasions it is most fitting to do so at the Easter Vigil, when our parish community celebrates the resurrection of Christ and God's gift to us of eternal life in Christ. The entry into the new life of faith of these adults reminds all of us of our own passover, from death to live, in Christ.
OUR FONT
Is in the shape of a cross. On Easter Vigil candidates for baptism and priest both step into the water. They step into the cross. Through the cross we find life and healing.
Is fed by a constant stream of water, trickling through a palm shell. This constant flow of water reminds us of how God's grace is always available, flowing freely to us, especially through the sacraments
Is surrounded by plants, a sign of life. Water is life-giving. The love of God is life-giving.
Is a journey. The candidates step in through one side, and out through another. Christ's gift to us in baptism is a passover from death to life, from spiritual weakness to spiritual strength, through Christ.
